LIMITATIONS OF STANDARD MRI AND ADDED VALUE OF MR TRACTOGRAPHY IN CHILDREN WITH SUBCORTICAL SUPRATENTORIAL BRAIN TUMOURS
Intracerebral tumours located in the subcortical white matter of the cerebral hemispheres form a distinct group in paediatric neuro-oncology: they often present without early specific symptoms yet lie close to pathways connecting eloquent cortical areas. Standard MRI remains the main diagnostic tool, but it describes the tumour rather than the surrounding white matter architecture [1]. Diffusion tensor tractography can visualise these pathways, and its role in paediatric tumour surgery continues to be defined [2, 3].
