Hydrogen-Bond Network-Enabled Access to Aryl Benzoiodoxolones via Mild, HFIP-Mediated Boron-Iodane Exchange
We report here a boron-iodane exchange reaction that occurs between aryl boronic acids and 1-hydroxybenzoiodoxoles at extremely mild conditions, that is without the need for using strong Lewis acids or pyrophoric/toxic reagents. Our approach enables selective arylation of a variety of 1-hydroxybenzoiodoxolones with electronically-diverse aromatic boronic acids that is facilitated only by hydrogen-bond donating HFIP, eventually giving rise to a wide range of 1-arylbenzoiodoxolones in good to excellent yields.
