BRILIAN Replication and Twinning actions across EU (Progress Report) D6.1
This deliverable presents the progress of BRILIAN’s replication and twinning activities across Europe, with particular focus on the BIOEAST macro-region. Its objective is to identify suitable opportunities for transferring and adapting the cooperative bio-based business models developed within BRILIAN to new regional contexts, supporting sustainable rural development and wider bioeconomy deployment. The report establishes an evidence-based methodology for replication, building on BRILIAN results related to biomass availability, market conditions, stakeholder engagement, business models and pilot implementation. It assesses regional conditions including biomass resources, policy frameworks, infrastructure, funding opportunities, research ecosystems and relevant stakeholders. Based on this analysis, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia are selected for more detailed assessment as priority countries for replication activities. For each selected country, the deliverable examines the main opportunities and barriers affecting the development and replication of bio-based value chains and identifies relevant actors that could support future implementation. Particular attention is given to the need to adapt BRILIAN solutions to local conditions rather than directly replicate existing models. The deliverable also introduces an initial replication roadmap covering site selection, twinning and knowledge transfer, adaptation of tools and business models, capacity building, stakeholder mobilisation, financing, monitoring and policy integration. Overall, the report provides the basis for future BRILIAN replication activities and for the development of region-specific approaches to facilitate the uptake of cooperative and circular bio-based business models across Europe.
