Notes on a fractal shell triangle

The stiffness of a material Sierpiński triangle incorporating membrane, drilling, and flexural effects is derived by using a principle of stiffness self-similarity. It is shown that the mechanical response is completely characterized by just three material parameters. The results can be considered as exact within the framework of linear isotropic infinitesimal elasticity.

Abstract

The stiffness of a material Sierpiński triangle incorporating membrane, drilling, and flexural effects is derived by using a principle of stiffness self-similarity. It is shown that the mechanical response is completely characterized by just three material parameters. The results can be considered as exact within the framework of linear isotropic infinitesimal elasticity.
