USING TOURISM-BASED ROLE-PLAY ACTIVITIES TO DEVELOP DIALOGUE SPEAKING FLUENCY AMONG SECOND-YEAR EFL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Speaking fluency is an important part of learning English, as it helps learners communicate their ideas clearly and maintain natural conversations. Even at the B2 level, university students may find it challenging to respond spontaneously, keep a conversation going, or interact confidently in different situations. This article examines how tourism-based role-play activities can be used to develop dialogue speaking fluency among second-year B2-level EFL university students. It focuses on realistic situations such as booking a hotel room, asking for directions, discussing travel plans, and communicating with tour guides. The article also presents a system of exercises that encourage students to practise turn-taking, respond more naturally, and express their ideas with greater confidence. Based on relevant literature in English language teaching, the article discusses the potential benefits of role-play activities and offers practical suggestions for using them in university speaking classes.
