A gordofobia nas práticas de saúde: uma análise sob as perspectivas de narrativas das ativistas gordas
This study investigates the fatphobia and stigma faced by fat women when accessing healthcare, from the perspective of digital fat activism. The qualitative research mapped two activists selected through the adapted snowball sampling technique, prioritising posts about their experiences in healthcare and representation in digital activism. Through data collection, carried out between January and December 2022, a total of 82 posts published on their Instagram pages were analysed. The thematic analysis, guided by categories such as stigma, fatphobia and commensality, revealed issues such as the romanticisation of obesity, the punitive relationship with physical activity and the imposition of restrictive diets in healthcare services. The study challenges the notion of the fat body as intrinsically pathological and highlights the need to rethink biomedical concepts, promote inclusive practices, and transform healthcare institutions to ensure equitable and respectful care for fat people.
