Nemoura pseudoerratica Vincon & Pardo 2003

Nemoura pseudoerratica Vinçon & Pardo, 2003 = Nemoura erratica Claassen, 1936 in Lavandier, 1979. TAXO. The larva of this Pyrenean and northwestern Spain endemic species has not been described yet, but its presence was validated by adults and larvae with morphological and molecular identification, respectively (PP 348504 to PP 348508). As for N. moselyi, further sampling throughout its distribution areas is required to provide a valuable larval description with consistent identification criteria. DIFF. N. pseudoerratica was described after Lavandier’s study. Prior to its description, this species was confused with N. erratica (Vinçon and Pardo 2003). As only N. pseudoerratica - generally occuring in cold brooks and streams with fine particulate organic matter and above 2000 m a. s. l. (Vinçon and Pardo 2003) - was observed in 2022, N. erratica cited by Lavandier (1979) should rather be N. pseudoerratica. We therefore propose to change N. erratica in Lavandier’s dataset to N. pseudoerratica. DIST. At site a 4, autochthony of N. pseudoerratica was validated by the only presence of adults, as both males and females were present in high density and the biotope was particularly suitable (i. e. high-altitude streams with cold water, slow flows, and high organic matter density). Note that it might be also present, even if rarely, in the main course of Estaragne stream, where rare adults were caught (autochthony unvalidated, Table 3).
