Scottish farmers and bioenergy: attitudes, barriers, and encouraging uptake
This policy brief analyses data from the 2023 Farmer Intention Survey (FIS). It is a deliverable of JHI-B3-1 (COMBINE) and SRUC-B3-1 (Ensuring positive behavioural change for farmers towards best practice for clean growth) under the Strategic Research Programme 2022–2027. Drawing on a sub-sample of 480 Scottish farmers, it examines attitudes towards farm-fed biogas plants, the barriers to planting energy crops, and the factors that would encourage uptake.
