Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic (VAK) untuk Meningkatkan Minat Belajar IPAS Siswa Kelas V UPTD SD Negeri 160 Barru
Low interest in learning among fifth-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 160 Barru highlighted the need to improve the teaching and learning process in Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS). This study aimed to improve the quality of the teaching and learning process and students’ interest in learning through the implementation of the Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic (VAK) model. The study employed a qualitative approach with a classroom action research design conducted over three cycles, each comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants consisted of the teacher and 18 fifth-grade students in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observations and questionnaires and then analyzed qualitatively. The results showed increases in teacher activity, student activity, and interest in learning in each cycle. In Cycle I, teacher activity reached 66.67%, student activity 62.12%, and interest in learning 42.84%. In Cycle II, these three indicators increased to 83.33%, 75.75%, and 59.43%, respectively. In Cycle III, teacher activity reached 91.67%, student activity 85.50%, and interest in learning 73.52%, with interest in learning categorized as high. These findings indicate that implementing the VAK model supports improvements in the teaching and learning process and increased interest in learning IPAS in the class studied. In practical terms, the VAK model can serve as an alternative for teachers to improve instructional delivery and increase elementary school students’ interest in learning.
