Lessons from LA-CoNGA Physics and EL-BONGÓ Physics: Building Capacity through Long-Term Europe–Latin America Collaboration

This presentation shares lessons from LA-CoNGA Physics and EL-BONGÓ Physics on building sustainable Europe–Latin America collaborations focused on capacity building in higher education and open science. It explores equitable North–South partnerships, shared institutional responsibilities, collaborative training, digital infrastructure, and long-term sustainability. It also presents CoAfina Hackathon as an example of a community initiative that has continued beyond its original project framework through recurring partnerships and funding efforts. Presented at the Seeds to Systems Cohort Collaboration Panel, 29 October 2026.
