Female (Figure 3E): Colour and markings similar to male, both wings with more convex termen. Male genitalia (Figure 4A): Moderate to heavily sclerotized. Vinculum slender, posteriorly slightly curved near tegumen; uncus hook-beak like in lateral view and hoody like in posterior view, tip acute and down curved, both dorsal and lateral surfaces covered with setae; brachium strong with pointed tip; saccus short. Valves and juxta merged, carina penis connected with basal 2/3 portion of phallus, tip shallowly bifid; base of valve broad and narrowed toward tip, tip of valve roundish with concave and acute point, ventral and dorsal margins thick covered with long setae; harpe absent. Juxta tongue-shaped. Phallus tubular, robust and curved in median portion, tip blunt, cornutus mostly membranous. Female genitalia (Figure 4B): Papillae anales semi-circular, margin covered with short setae; apophyses posteriores weak. Ostial opening partially covered by sclerotized lamella postvaginalis concave into cone-shape on ventral view, lamella antevaginalis membranous. Ductus bursae long, distal-median portion with heavily sclerotized longitudinal striae. Corpus bursae oval-bulbous, membranous with two roundish and spiny signa patches, one near base, one near end. Etymology: The dark upperside of both wings with scattered dull whitish spots resembles the misty, starry night sky the expedition team saw at the remote camping site in the Dulongjiang valley in 2023. Therefore, the Latin word astra was selected to reflect this wonderful memory. Distribution: The new species is currently found in Gongshan and Dulongjiang areas of northwestern Yunnan, China, and also recorded from high-elevation areas in northern Indochina, such as Xiang Khouang of Laos and Chiang Mai of Thailand. Habitat and behaviour: This species is only found in primary forest (Figure 5). Males fly in the understory and the edge of the forest and show territorial behaviour on plant leaves or rocks. Mud puddling was observed in the morning.
