Understanding the enablers of sustainable entrepreneurial growth using interpretive structural modelling

Entrepreneurship is an important area that not only helps in economic growth but also provides jobs for others. There are numerous government initiatives aimed at promoting start-ups and entrepreneurs, providing them with financial support and mentorship to nurture their ideas and achieve their goals more effectively. The study aims to identify the factors that contribute to the growth of Sustainable Entrepreneurship. Based on the existing literature and experts’ opinions, 14 enablers were selected for the study. The experts were business entrepreneurs, either from families or their own, such as managers, employee services professionals with 10 or more years of experience, and business owners, etc., which influences the long-term enhancement of sustainable business development goals. The interpretive structure modelling (ISM) technique is a well-established methodology that will identify structure and analyse complex relationships among enablers/variables. ISM is used for data analysis and is helpful in model building for future consideration. This technique explores the levelling of enablers; 35 experts were included to collect opinions. The results show levels of enablers from 1 to 6. There are 14 key enablers in long-term sustainable entrepreneurship that were studied. The organisation culture and vision are drivers to achieve Sustainable Business Models and Customer-Centricity. The use of technology and financial capacity will be responsible for sustainable culture and internal capacity building. That is the drive for HRM, resource reconfiguration and resource preservation orientation. That will drive the innovation process, green management practice and efficient and effective operations, which leads to the sustainable business model. This study will help the Business ownership for decision-making and stakeholder connection, while influence and control affect stakeholders for a favourable atmosphere. Further, MICMAC helps to classify variables to identify how much a variable influence other and how much they are influenced by others. The study further categorises the variables into Autonomous, Linkages, dependent and independent categories. The study provides insights for professionals, scholars, policymakers, and businesspeople. The research finds that entrepreneurship vision is the most important variable that influences a sustainable business model. The findings contribute to advancing Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), offering a structured roadmap for entrepreneurs and policymakers.

Abstract
