Effect of Environmental and Ethical Disclosures on Market Value of Listed Consumer Goods Firms in Nigeria
The study examined the effect of environmental and ethical disclosures on the market value of listed consumer goods firms in Nigeria using a sample of 16 firms selected using purposive sampling technique from a population of 24 listed consumer goods sector firms. The study employed secondary data extracted from the annual report of the firm from 2014 to 2025 and adopted the Panel Corrected Standard Error regression technique to analyze the data. The result revealed that environmental disclosure does not significantly influence the market value of listed consumer goods firms in Nigeria. However, ethical disclosure has a significant negative effect on the market value of the listed consumer goods firm. The study recommended that disclosure should focus on areas that directly improve operational efficiency such as energy conservation, waste reduction, and resource efficiency which have positive links to firm value.
