Smart Home Automation: Gesture-Based Appliance Control with Bluetooth and Flame Detection
This project presents a Smart Home Automation system that combines gesture-based appliance control, Bluetooth communication, and flame detection using an Arduino UNO. The system allows users to control a fan and two LEDs through hand gestures captured by a webcam. OpenCV and MediaPipe Hands are used to detect hand landmarks and recognize gestures. Python and PySerial transmit the corresponding commands to the Arduino UNO. An HC-05 Bluetooth module provides an alternative wireless control method. A digital flame sensor is integrated to detect flame conditions and activate a buzzer and fan relay according to the programmed logic. The prototype demonstrates the integration of embedded systems, computer vision, wireless communication, and sensor-based automation using commonly available components. The project is intended for educational and experimental purposes. It is not a certified fire alarm or safety system. Keywords: Smart Home Automation, Internet of Things, Arduino UNO, Gesture Recognition, Bluetooth, Flame Detection, OpenCV, MediaPipe, Embedded Systems.
