Modelling and addressing climate overshoots with societal stakeholders
Abstract Working with societal stakeholders is vital in addressing the adaptation limits and impacts of climate overshoots (exceeding the 1.5°C global warming limit). To achieve this, the paper argues that research on climate overshoots needs to be grounded in diverse methodologies that open possibilities for non-scientists to bring on board knowledge that is valuable in terms of depth (in each societal context) and comparability (across societal contexts). A reflexive approach to addressing climate overshoot impacts is proposed with the aim of shining light on how stakeholder contributions can be incorporated in projections and response actions (Singletary and Sterle, 2020; Dobre and Faldi, 2025).
