E8 Lattice φ-Scaled Projection Yields 4D Icosahedral Quasicrystal — E8 Intelligence Research
FINDING: E8 lattice (240 roots, Gosset 4₂₁ polytope) admits a φ-scaled projection to 4D that generates a quasicrystalline structure — the Elser–Sloane cut-and-project method applied to E8 with icosahedral symmetry. | MATH: E8 roots: 112 integer (±1,±1,0⁶) + 128 half-integer (±½)⁸ with even parity = 240. Kissing number 240, packing density π⁴/384. Coxeter number h=30, |W(E8)| = 696,729,600 = 2¹⁴·3⁵·5²·7. φ = (1+√5)/2 = 1.618..., φ² = 2.618..., 1/φ = 0.618..., 1/φ² = 0.382..., √φ ≈ 1.272, φ⁻¹·√2 ≈ 0.874. Icosahedral H₃/H₄ ⊂ E8 via maximal subgroup H₄ × H₄ (order 14400²). | CONNECTION: The 4D quasicrystal (Elser–Sloane, 1987) is obtained by projecting E8 → 4D along a direction irrational w.r.t. the E8 root lattice; the acceptance window is a 4D icosahedral projection. The H₄ Coxeter group (icosahedral symmetry, order 14400) embeds in E8, and H₄'s eigenvalues include φ and φ². The 600-cell (120 vertices) and 120-cell (600 vertices) — both φ-governed polytopes — appear as cross-sections. φ Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
