A novel switched inductor–capacitor high-gain DC–DC converter: DSP-based PID and fuzzy control with detailed transient analysis for EV DC bus

In electric vehicle (EV) systems, where low-voltage energy sources must effectively interface with high-voltage DC buses, high-gain DC–DC converters are crucial. A new switching inductor–capacitor-based high-gain boost converter that can step up a low input voltage of 30–600 V without using excessive duty cycles is presented in this work. The suggested design reduces voltage stress, switching losses, and input current ripple while achieving high conversion gain through the use of numerous energy transfer channels and voltage multiplier action. Both Proportional–Integral–Derivative (PID) and Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) strategies are implemented through a real-time digital control platform using the TMS320F28379D digital signal processor to guarantee superior voltage regulation and dynamic performance under varying line and load conditions. A rigorous transient and steady-state performance evaluation is carried out utilizing essential dynamic indices such as rise time, overshoot, undershoot, and slew rate—a feature typically missed in prior high-gain converter research. A DSP-based hardware prototype running at 50 kHz is used to experimentally test the MATLAB/Simulink model of the system. The converter successfully produces an output of 600 V at 0.45 A with a peak efficiency of 88.99%. Comparative findings show that the FLC outperforms the traditional PID controller in terms of robustness, undershoot, and reaction time. The feasibility, dependability, and efficacy of the suggested converter for high-voltage EV DC-link applications and renewable energy systems needing effective, high step-up power conversion are confirmed by the strong agreement between simulation and experimental findings.
