Perlodes intricatus

Perlodes cf. intricatus (Pictet, 1841) = Perlodes intricata (Pictet, 1871) in Lavandier (1979). TAXO-2022. While the majority of criteria of both larvae and adults from Estaragne closely corresponds to the nominal species P. intricatus, not all criteria match (specifically regarding the morphology of larvae and ovocytes) to the known descriptions of the topotypical individuals from occidental Alps. We thus preferred to attribute them to P. cf. intricatus, pending the conclusions of a comprehensive review of the species, which is currently underway (unpublished data). Note in addition that our molecular data (PP 348531 to PP 348534) revealed a distinct haplotype from populations of P. intricatus from Alps (unpublished data). DIST. P. cf. intricatus appears to be confined to the upper reaches of the main Estaragne River (sites A to C, Fig. 3 A, B, D, F) and high-altitude tributaries (a 1 to a 4) up to 2000 m. DIFF. Given the very high probability that this is the same species observed by Lavandier, we assume to change P. intricata to P. cf. intricatus in Lavandier’s dataset.
