BRILIAN Exploitation strategy and IPR management (First Version)

This deliverable presents the first version of BRILIAN’s exploitation strategy and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) management approach, developed to support the uptake, commercialisation and long-term sustainability of the project’s Key Exploitable Results (KERs). It establishes a structured framework for identifying exploitation opportunities, defining market pathways and protecting the knowledge and innovations generated within the project. The exploitation methodology combines several complementary tools, including characterisation tables, Market Definition, Lean and Value Proposition Canvases, exploitation roadmaps, and risk assessments. These tools are applied to BRILIAN’s Key Exploitable Results, covering the optimisation toolkit and logistics module, biodegradable products for agriculture, circular starch valorisation, rapeseed protein extraction and its use in bio-based adhesives, and an organisational model for sustainable rural bio-based value chains. For each result, the deliverable examines aspects such as target markets and end users, value propositions, exploitation routes, potential revenues and costs, technological and market risks, intellectual property considerations and activities required to support future market uptake. Particular attention is given to defining pathways for further development, industrial scale-up, licensing, service provision and commercialisation according to the characteristics of each result. The deliverable also establishes the project’s approach to intellectual property management, addressing background and foreground knowledge, ownership, protection mechanisms and exploitation intentions. Overall, the strategy provides a common framework for transforming BRILIAN’s technical and organisational results into exploitable innovations and lays the foundation for the final exploitation and IPR strategy to be developed at the end of the project.
