PENGARUH PEMBERIAN RASA (RELAXATION, AROMATHERAPY, SOUND, AFFIRMATION) TERHADAP KECEMASAN PADA IBU HAMIL TRIMESTER III
ABSTRACT Anxiety among women in the third trimester of pregnancy may arise from physiological and psychological changes as childbirth approaches, highlighting the need for safe interventions with minimal side effects. One potential non-pharmacological approach is RASA (Relaxation, Aromatherapy, Sound, Affirmation). This study aimed to determine the effect of RASA on anxiety levels among third-trimester pregnant women in Wirolegi Village, Sumbersari District, Jember Regency, Indonesia. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with a control group. The study population comprised 37 third-trimester pregnant women, while the sample consisted of 30 women experiencing anxiety who were selected through purposive sampling. The participants were divided into an intervention group and a control group, each comprising 15 respondents. Anxiety levels were measured before and after the intervention and analyzed using paired and independent t-tests. The results showed that the mean anxiety score in the intervention group decreased from 30.67 ± 13.58 to 28.53 ± 7.73, while the control group score decreased from 31.93 ± 10.01 to 28.53 ± 8.28. The paired t-test indicated statistically significant changes in both the intervention group (p < 0.001) and the control group (p = 0.001). The independent t-test revealed a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.001), with a reported mean difference of 12.133 and a Cohen’s d of 1.515. These findings suggest that RASA may serve as a non-pharmacological alternative to help reduce anxiety among women in the third trimester of pregnancy. However, the interpretation of the effect size should be verified against the calculation method and the specific comparison used.
