How Coaches Track Student Progress Across Formats: A Practitioner's Account
How does a coach know a student is improving when the lessons happen through a screen? This practitioner paper describes the progress-tracking practice of Superior Chess Academy, drawing on more than 30,000 hours of live coaching delivered to 1,000+ students aged 5 and above across 20+ countries. It documents the diagnostic trial class every student receives, the per-student records coaches keep, how tracking adapts to the Group (maximum 8 to 10), Semi-Private (maximum 3 to 4) and one-to-one formats, and the internal curriculum meetings where individual observations become shared teaching knowledge. The account is qualitative and practice-based, offered as practitioner experience rather than experimental results.
