Chondrosarcoma of the Cervical Trachea in an Octogenerian, A Case Report
Abstract Background: Primary tracheal chondrosarcoma is an exceptionally rare respiratory malignancy [10, 6] that typically presents with dyspnea, cough, or wheezing [9] and is optimally managed via surgical resection with end-to-end anastomosis [2, 7, 1, 12]. In this case report we present a case of an octogenarian patient with tracheal chondrosarcoma and describe our interdisciplinary therapeutic approach. A transcervical partial tracheal resection with end-to-end anastomosis was performed. The patient was discharged on the seventh postoperative day and showed no signs of tracheal obstruction at follow-up.
