Open Access Publishing in Chemistry

The workshop “Open Access Publishing in Chemistry” on November 3, 2026 was offered in English in cooperation with the FID Chemie. It provided an overview of Open Access publishing within the existing publishing system of chemistry. The workshop covered the different publishing models: Gold Open Access in relevant journals, often involving publication fees (APCs); self-archiving previously published articles (Green Open Access); and Diamond Open Access, where publications are made available without fees for authors. The workshop also introduced the funding and support options available for these publishing models and explains how FID Chemie and open-access.network can support researchers in navigating them. The workshop was organized and delivered by open-access.network, a project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
