Análisis semántico y sintáctico de la perífrasis verbal <echar(se) a + infinitivo> en el español peninsular
This paper analyzes the semantic and syntactic behavior of the inchoative and ingressive verbal periphrasis <echar(se) a + infinitive> in Peninsular Spanish, based on examples drawn from the CORPES XXI corpus. The study focuses on three verb classes, following the classification proposed by the ADESSE project: verbs of physiology —dormir, llorar, reír—, verbs of motion —volar, correr, andar—, and manner-of-motion verbs —temblar—. These are the verbs with which the periphrasis displays a clear combinatory preference and are therefore analyzed in order to describe their syntactic profile and determine the extent to which the periphrasis imposes formal and semantic constraints. The results reveal a predominance of simple combinations, in which the structure appears only with the subject, as well as a tendency toward temporal, modal, and locative constructions depending on the lexico-semantic properties of the infinitival verb. The study concludes that the periphrasis consistently retains its inchoative and ingressive value, while the observed combinatory differences primarily reflect the semantics of the infinitival verb rather than inherent formal restrictions of the periphrastic construction.
