Expression of a homeobox results in activation of nuclear processes that function in transformation.
We used TCF21 over-expression as a model to study the influence of TCF homeobox factors on transformation. Reciprocal control of genomic stability preceding transformation is known to include transcriptional events including oncogene activation, induction of other nuclear factors with tumor specifying property, repair machinery with functions in genomic stability or tumor suppression, and other systems including the Xist-associated imprinting system of epigenetic gene regulation was demonstrated here.
