Effects of end-slip restraints on two-layer beams with interlayer slip
Abstract Static analysis of two Euler-Bernoulli beams made of linearly elastic material interconnected by elastic shear connections is presented. In particular, the influence of equal end-slip restraints on the static behaviour of two-layer composite beams is investigated. A displacement-based variational formulation is adopted to derive the governing equations. Extended closed-form solutions including axial and transverse displacements, interlayer slip and internal stress resultants for cantilever and simply supported two-layer composite beams subjected to point forces and couples, as well as to uniformly distributed loads, are reported as supplementary material. End-slip restraints behave as stiffeners for the entire beam, reducing the interlayer slip.
