Mineral Composition of Raw Clay Materials for Predicting Physical and Mechanical Properties of Clinker Ceramics
The prediction the properties of ceramic products is provided by a correct comprehensive analysis of raw materials. Each mineral is responsible for a specific parameter such as strength, water absorption, frost resistance, absorption. The paper describes the influence of the mineralogical composition of raw materials on physical and mechanical properties of ceramic products obtained from raw materials from the Siberian region. Tests are carried out on voroninskaya and surovskaya clays and albitophire. Purpose : The aim of the work is to study raw materials from the Siberian region and select the best mixture composition for the production of clinker ceramics. Methodology: The thermal analysis is conducted with and STA 409 PC Luxx (NETZSCH) instrument to study the properties and processes in substances during heating or cooling. Research findings : After studying heat patterns of clays and albitophire, it is found that the clay mixture consisting of these raw components is the best for the production of high physical and mechanical properties of ceramics, i.e., M200 high grade, less than 6 % water absorption, and F200 high frost resistance. Value: The minerals formed in each of the abovementioned raw materials allow creating a common raw material matrix, which ensures clinker properties after firing.
