Peter Kwong Discusses Structural Biology, Antibody-Mediated Immunity, and Vaccine Design
Peter D. Kwong, PhD, is an internationally recognized structural biologist and director of the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center at Columbia University. In this interview with Neil S. Greenspan, senior editor of Pathogens and Immunity, Dr. Kwong discusses his work in advancing the understanding of biological macromolecules, especially proteins, and how it has helped connect structural biology with antibody-mediated immunity and vaccine design. His contributions have earned numerous honors, including the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Award, the Presidential Early Career Award, NIH Director’s Awards, NIAID Merit Awards, and the Norman P. Salzman Award in Virology
