Chemoselective Phosphine-Catalyzed Reduction of Activated Carbonyls: Access to β-Hydroxy Ketones, Sulfonyls, Phosphonates, and Their Derivatives
Abstract We report a chemoselective phosphine-catalyzed reduction of activated carbonyls in ethanol. This metal-free method employs a recyclable supported catalyst, delivering high chemoselectivity (60 examples) without requiring metal complexes or borohydrides, thus providing a sustainable and practical alternative for selective carbonyl reductions.
