"Does the Transition from Waking to Dreaming Change Consciousness Itself, or Only the Conditions Through Which Consciousness Experiences?"

This research manuscript investigates whether the transition from waking to dreaming changes consciousness itself or merely alters the conditions through which consciousness experiences. Authored by Yeshayahu Ben-Yehudah, the inquiry emerges from his lived experience as SUBJECT, WITNESS, and OBSERVER and builds upon the Ben-Yehudah Transducer Model, which proposes that consciousness is primary and the MIND operates downstream as a receiver or transducer of conscious experience. The paper examines waking consciousness, dreaming, dreamless sleep, and the philosophical possibility that changes in sensory perception, biological activity, and mental processes do not necessarily constitute changes in consciousness itself. Drawing upon the Ben-Yehudah Field Theory, Six-Pillar Process Architecture, and relevant philosophical and neuroscientific scholarship, the manuscript explores the relationship between conscious experience, observation, memory, and the conditions of awareness. Rather than imposing a universal scientific conclusion or seeking external validation of the author's lived experience, the investigation preserves an open philosophical inquiry grounded in STILLNESS, AWARENESS, OBSERVATION, DISCERNMENT, INTEGRATION, and TRANSMISSION. The central question remains: What, if anything, remains constant within consciousness across waking, dreaming, and dreamless sleep? The foundational philosophical concepts, theoretical frameworks, and lived observations are attributed to Yeshayahu Ben-Yehudah.

Abstract

DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.23891057 Artificial Intelligence Disclosure: Artificial intelligence assisted with the organization, drafting, literature identification, citation integration, and editorial refinement of this manuscript. The foundational philosophical concepts, theoretical frameworks, and lived observations are attributed to Yeshayahu Ben-Yehudah.
