A scientific approach to solving problems related to maintaining sustainable harvesting of aquatic biological resources in the Northern Basin

Conducting scientific research and obtaining well-founded conclusions, on the basis of which territorial executive authorities can make balanced decisions, requires obtaining comprehensive and reliable information directly from fishing companies, public industry unions, and government bodies overseeing the development of the region’s fishing industry. Scientists from VNIRO, as part of a state assignment to assess the stocks of aquatic biological resources in the Arctic seas, held a number of meetings in July of this year with fishermen from the Northern Basin, public organizations, and S. A. Panfilova, the deputy governor of the Murmansk Region responsible for the fishing industry.
