Finite Matrix Inequalities for Arbitrarily Many Power-Sum Defects

A finite tridiagonal matrix generates inequalities for any prescribed finite number of weighted power-sum defects. An exact double remainder proves the inequality and determines equality and the best constant. Shifted starts, integer strides, separation restrictions, and an even-order real-input extension are treated.

Abstract

A finite tridiagonal matrix generates inequalities for any prescribed finite number of weighted power-sum defects. An exact double remainder proves the inequality and determines equality and the best constant. Shifted starts, integer strides, separation restrictions, and an even-order real-input extension are treated.
