The Map of a Step: What third-generation AI gives a person before a step, and how to recognize it

Open specification, version 0.1. Companion to the root essay "The AI Daisy: Loves Me? Loves Me Not?" (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.23855990) from The Bush Book; fourth in a series after Conditions of Admission, The Hybrid Survivability Criterion and The Lesson Path. It describes what third-generation AI, the Chart Room, gives a person before a step, and how to recognize it, without describing how to build it. The map of a step has seven parts: the person's own step first and "do nothing" last; two to four forks; whom each fork touches and what becomes of them; fog, that is, what the machine does not know and why; what each forecast rests on; what is missing; and the outcome time. The map carries no verdict, no false precision and no hidden fork, and learns only from verified outcomes. The Chart Room is admitted domain by domain, only where outcomes are recorded and the second generation's lesson channel works. It is recognized by three tests of results: coming true, usefulness, and steering, that is, whether people keep their own judgement. Prototype: the stone at the crossroads in Russian epics; anti-prototype: the Delphic oracle. In English and Russian; the two editions match paragraph by paragraph. Author: Igor Kapustin. Written with the participation of AI: Claude (Anthropic); the material was also discussed with ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google) and Mistral (Mistral AI). License: CC BY 4.0.
