Detailed Study of Eight High-proper-motion Stars Based on OSIRIS/GTC Spectra and Archival Data

Abstract In this paper we determine the fundamental parameters of eight poorly studied high-proper-motion dwarfs based on both spectroscopic and photometric data. We used low-resolution OSIRIS/GTC optical spectra, complemented by photometric analysis of catalogue data. For each dwarf in the sample we determined the spectral type and the most important atmospheric parameters – effective temperature, metallicity and surface gravity. The observed low metallicities, high proper motions, and large distances to the Galactic plane indicate that these objects are most likely Population II stars.
