Dataset of magnetic properties, structure and synthesis of doped barium and strontium M-type hexaferrites
M-type barium and strontium hexaferrites are the most widely produced permanent-magnet materials, and their structural and magnetic properties are commonly tuned by cationic substitution. The experimental data on doped hexaferrites are dispersed over hundreds of articles and reported with heterogeneous notation, units and descriptors. Here we present HexaMagDB, a manually curated dataset of 4388 records extracted from 662 peer-reviewed articles on doped Ba-and Sr-based M-type hexaferrites. Each record corresponds to one experimentally characterized sample and contains the chemical formula, the dopant elements, their amounts and substituted sites, the synthesis method and procedure, the calcination and sintering conditions, the lattice parameters, crystallite and particle sizes, phase purity and secondary phases, and the saturation and remanent magnetizations, coercivity, squareness ratio, Curie temperature and magnetocrystalline anisotropy field and constant, together with the measurement temperature and maximum applied field. The dataset covers 48 dopant elements in 251 combinations. An interactive online tool for visualization and navigation through the data has also been developed. This dataset can serve as a comprehensive benchmark for predicting the magnetic properties of doped hexaferrites.
