Trauma Psikologis Tokoh Alam dalam Novel Namaku Alam Karya Leila S. Chudori: Kajian Psikologi Perkembangan Erik Erikson

Leila S. Chudori’s novel Namaku Alam portrays the traumatic experiences of Alam in relation to political violence, the loss of a father figure, stigma, and discrimination against families affected by the post-1965 political context. This study aims to describe and analyze the psychological trauma experienced by Alam in Namaku Alam from the perspective of Erik Erikson’s psychosocial development theory. This study employed a qualitative approach with an intrinsic case study method. The data consisted of 148 data units derived from narratives, dialogues, and monologues in Leila S. Chudori’s Namaku Alam, published by Kepustakaan Populer Gramedia in 2023. Data were collected through intensive reading and purposive recording. Data analysis was conducted interpretively through the stages of identification, classification, interpretation, and meaning-making using Titscher et al.’s objective hermeneutics. The findings show that Alam’s psychological trauma is represented in three main categories: psychological trauma, trauma reflected in thought patterns, and trauma reflected in social relationships. The trauma is manifested through traumatic memories, anxiety, inner conflict, and identity confusion, which affect the character’s psychological development. Experiences of political violence, the loss of a father figure, stigma, and discrimination against families affected by the post-1965 context also influence Alam’s psychosocial development, particularly in the process of resolving the Identity versus Role Confusion stage. Family support, positive interpersonal relationships, self-reflection, and writing activities contribute to the character’s adaptation and identity reconstruction. Thus, Alam’s psychological trauma affects not only his emotional condition but also his thought patterns, social relationships, and identity formation throughout his psychosocial development.
