Autologous saphenous vein wrapping for recalcitrant post-surgical ulnar nerve compressive neuropathy: a case report
Background: Vein wrapping is a surgical technique used to treat recalcitrant postoperative peripheral nerve neuropathy, serving as a barrier to prevent adhesions and scar tissue formation around the nerve. Case report: A 34-year-old male presented with ulnar nerve palsy following hook of hamate excision for a non-union fracture. Due to persistent neuropathy despite repeated decompressive surgeries, the patient ultimately underwent autologous saphenous vein wrapping. Conclusion: Autologous vein wrapping can be useful for the treatment of recalcitrant post-surgical neuropathies and helps to prevent recurrences.
