Atopic dermatitis with secondary bacterial infection: A case report on individualized homoeopathic management and assessed with MONARCH score

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, relapsing, inflammatory skin disease characterized by intense pruritus, eczematous lesions and dry skin (Ralston et al., 2018) 1. It is commonly associated with a personal or family history of atopy, including asthma, allergic rhinitis and elevated serum IgE levels (Udare et al., 2019) 2. Atopic dermatitis affects 15-20% of children and 2-10% of adults worldwide. It is the most common chronic inflammatory skin disease globally. About 60% of cases develop within first year of life and 90% before 5 years of age. Adult-onset Atopic Dermatitis accounts for about 25% of adult cases, while most adult cases are persistent childhood Atopic Dermatitis. Case Summary A 14 year old male child presented with dry, scaly, painful, itching eruptions on the fingers especially on Right hand and also on the toes and the dorsum of the foot with oozing of blood and pus along with elevated ESR, CRP, and IgE. After thorough case taking, analysis and repertorization using Synthesis Repertory in RADAR , Calc. carb 200 C was prescribed followed by the same in LM potency. The skin lesions completely disappeared without any topical applications.
