The Three-Dimensional Universe as the Horizon of a Black Hole in a Gravity-Dimensional Space: The Shohachi Model and Its Comparison with Observations
We propose a model (the Shohachi model) in which our three-dimensional universe (hereafter the “universe-dimensional space”) is the horizon of a black hole in a space with more directions (hereafter the “gravity-dimensional space”), and we compare it with publicly available observational data. In the Shohachi model, space is studied as two layers: the universe-dimensional space with three directions, and the gravity-dimensional space with more directions. The expansion of the universe is the growth of the horizon radius R in the direction of the gravity-dimensional space, and dark matter and dark energy are treated as belonging not to the universe-dimensional space but to the gravity-dimensional space.(1) When the rotation speeds of 149 spiral galaxies (SPARC) are computed with a 1/r³ gravity from dark matter in the gravity-dimensional space, the fit is as good as, and slightly better than, the standard 1/r² calculation (median misfit 0.86 vs. 0.94). (2) From the relation between the gravity of stars and gas and the actual gravity (the radial acceleration relation), we obtain the transition acceleration a₀ ≈ 1.0 × 10⁻¹⁰ m/s². In the Shohachi model this can be written as a₀ ≈ c × u / (2πR) (speed of light × expansion speed / circumference of the universe-dimensional space). (3) When the growth of the horizon is described by two terms, “inflow from the vicinity” and “stretching of the whole gravity-dimensional space,” the model fits both 1590 supernovae (Pantheon+) and the 2025 DESI galaxy-clustering data (baryon acoustic oscillations) as well as, or slightly better than, the standard model (ΛCDM).We found no clear conflict between the Shohachi model and the brane-world ideas of superstring theory and M-theory. The model makes predictions that can be tested by observation, such as a larger a₀ in early galaxies (about three times larger at redshift 2). On the other hand, many problems remain unsolved, such as the size of the primordial fluctuations, the hot early universe, and the derivation of the formula for a₀. This paper summarizes what has been examined, including these problems. Changes in version 1.1: The Abstract and the Introduction now state clearly two points of the model. (1) The expansion speed u is, at any given time, the same at every place in the universe-dimensional space; what grows with distance is not the speed but the growth of the distance (D = R × θ, growth = H × D). (2) The speed of light is constant because the universe-dimensional space is the boundary (horizon) of a black hole in the gravity-dimensional space; why its value is c has not yet been determined (added to Section 7).
