Kajian Struktural dan Nilai Pendidikan Karakter pada Novel Matahari Minor Karya Tere Liye dan Pemanfaatannya sebagai Bahan Ajar Bahasa Indonesia dengan Pendekatan Deep Learning di SMK
This research is motivated by the low quality of character among the younger generation and the underutilization of modern literary works as innovative media for instilling moral values in Vocational High Schools (SMK). The research questions focus on the structural analysis of intrinsic and extrinsic elements, the content of character education values, and the relevance of utilizing the novel Matahari Minor by Tere Liye as alternative Indonesian language teaching materials in SMK. Teoretically, this study is beneficial for enriching academic insights regarding the integration of literature and character, while practically helping teachers develop innovative teaching modules based on digital literacy enhancement. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a literary structuralism approach. The primary data source consists of the text of the novel Matahari Minor, collected through literature study, content analysis, documentation, and curriculum literature observation. The results show that the structural elements of the novel are tightly constructed through the interconnectedness of friendship themes, story facts (progressive-regressive plots, adaptive characterization, speculative settings), and literary devices. The dominant character education values identified include radical honesty, operational responsibility, cooperation, courage, persistence (grit), process discipline, and universal tolerance across clans. The study concludes that the structural analysis and character value content are highly relevant to be utilized as innovative teaching materials for SMK students. Through the implementation of the three main principles of the deep learning approach in learning design—namely mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning—these materials are able to encourage vocational students to think critically while deeply internalizing moral messages, communication ethics, and mental resilience in line with the demands of the professional work environment.
