Tren Komunikasi Remaja di Era Media Sosial

The development of digital technology and social media has reshaped how adolescents communicate, including how they form communication behaviours and social, moral, and ethical values. This shift deserves particular attention in Badung Regency, Bali, where both cultural interaction and the influence of globalisation are intense. The study sought to map adolescents' social media use, analyse their communication behaviour and values, and test whether these characteristics differ by school. Using a quantitative survey, questionnaires were completed by 294 eighth-grade students aged 13–15 at SMP Negeri 1 Kuta Utara, SMP Negeri 1 Abiansemal, and SMP Negeri 3 Abiansemal. After the instrument was checked for validity and reliability, the data were examined with descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Levene's test, and the Kruskal–Wallis test. Scores were not normally distributed, although variances across schools were relatively homogeneous. The Kruskal–Wallis test returned a significance value of 0.974 (> 0.05), meaning that communication scores did not differ significantly among the three schools. Adolescents in the groups studied therefore show broadly similar communication characteristics. These results can inform character education and digital literacy programmes that run across schools while still responding to students' particular needs.
