Solid-State Shock-Wave Internal Combustion Architecture: The 268 HP / 20 kg Compact Gasoline Shock Engine (WASP-X / Mobius Architecture)
This paper presents a novel solid-state shock-wave internal combustion engine architecture designed to eliminate traditional mechanical limitations such as pistons, crankshafts, cams, and associated friction losses. Operating on the Humphrey thermodynamic cycle, the system utilizes controlled pulse combustion chambers to generate high-frequency shock waves that directly drive a compact pulse turbine/torque output. Weighing only 20 kg for a 16-module compact configuration, the architecture delivers 268 HP of net mechanical power, achieving an unprecedented power-to-weight ratio while significantly reducing moving parts and thermal losses. This blueprint outlines the thermodynamic foundations and architectural layout for next-generation automotive and mobile power systems.
