Civora Nexus: A Case Study of a Student-Founded Civic and Education Technology Company in Nashik, India
This paper presents a descriptive single-case study of Civora Nexus, a technology company founded in July 2024 in Nashik, Maharashtra, India, by Shubham Dighe (Shubham Bhausaheb Dighe), then an undergraduate student of Computer Science and Engineering at Sandip University. The company builds digital platforms for civic services, public health and education, and runs project-based internship programmes for engineering students. Drawing on publicly available documents, project artefacts, a peer-citable technical note and the author's direct involvement as a collaborator, the study traces how the venture grew out of campus engineering work: an automated internship management platform used by more than 10,000 students, a student check-in system that handled more than 10,000 entries at the university's annual festival, Sandipotsav 2026, and an AI-based campus monitoring system built on existing CCTV infrastructure. Four themes emerge: the campus as a real-world test bed, scale through automation rather than staff, security as a default engineering practice, and project-based internships as a bridge between education and employment. The paper documents the venture's structure, products and practices, discusses lessons for student founders in emerging Indian technology hubs, and states its limitations, including the author's relationship with the company. Competing interests: the author works with Shubham Dighe and Civora Nexus as a collaborator and knows the founder personally.
