Smooth PDE Projections with Nowhere-Continuous Lifts

Explicit dense partitions give nowhere-continuous maps whose image under one fixed continuous linear projection is smooth. An analytic heat-equation solution and a general smooth PDE solution each admit infinitely many distinct such lifts. The construction separates regularity of a projection from regularity of the original map.

Abstract

Explicit dense partitions give nowhere-continuous maps whose image under one fixed continuous linear projection is smooth. An analytic heat-equation solution and a general smooth PDE solution each admit infinitely many distinct such lifts. The construction separates regularity of a projection from regularity of the original map.
