PEMBERDAYAAN KELUARGA DALAM MENINGKATKAN GAYA HIDUP PENDERITA HIPERTENSI DI LINGKUNGAN PASAR 3 KELURAHAN TITI RANTAI MEDAN
Hypertension is a chronic condition that requires ongoing management, including adjustments to diet, physical activity, smoking habits, and adherence to medical advice. Families can play a role in establishing and monitoring healthy lifestyle behaviors at home. This study aimed to examine the lifestyles of individuals with hypertension before and after a family empowerment intervention in the Pasar 3 area of Titi Rantai Village, Medan. A single-group pretest-posttest design was employed, with a sample of 37 respondents selected via purposive sampling. The intervention consisted of health education for families, alongside the monitoring and evaluation of daily lifestyle habits over a one-month period. Data were collected using questionnaires and observational monitoring. Pre- and post-intervention results were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The proportion of respondents maintaining a healthy lifestyle increased from 12 (32.4%) before the intervention to 22 (59.5%) afterward. The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.025, indicating a statistically significant difference in lifestyle following the intervention. However, as this study lacked a control group, it cannot be definitively concluded that the observed changes were solely attributable to the intervention. Future research should incorporate a comparison group and provide more detailed descriptions of the instruments used and the implementation of the intervention.
