HUBUNGAN SELF EFFICACY DENGAN KEPATUHAN MINUM OBAT PADA PASIEN HIPERTENSI DI RSUD KABUPATEN TANGERANG
Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that remains a major global health issue. Successful blood pressure control in hypertensive patients largely depends on medication adherence, and one of the psychological factors influencing this adherence is self efficacy. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self efficacy and medication adherence among hypertensive patients at the Tangerang District Regional General Hospital (RSUD Kabupaten Tangerang). A quantitative, analytical, correlational research design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The sample consisted of 207 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Self efficacy was measured using the Medication Adherence Self Efficacy Scale – Revised (MASES-R), while medication adherence was assessed using the 8-item Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8). Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that the majority of respondents possessed high self efficacy (79.7%) and were adherent to their medication (63.8%). The chi-square test revealed a significant relationship between self efficacy and medication adherence (p < 0.001), with an Odds Ratio (OR) of 7.750 (95% CI: 3.590–16.731). This indicates that patients with high self efficacy are 7.75 times more likely to be adherent to their medication compared to those with low self efficacy. Therefore, this study demonstrates a significant association between self efficacy and medication adherence among hypertensive patients at the Tangerang District Regional General Hospital.
