Studies towards the Synthesis of Marchantin A and Biological Evaluation of the Intermediates and Intermediate-Derived Analogues
A macrocyclic olefin metathesis approach to marchantin A was explored. The diene precursor was successfully assembled via two sequential Ullmann reactions. however, the subsequent ring-closing metathesis exclusively afforded the dimeric product. Furthermore, the biological evaluation of the intermediates and intermediate-derived analogues revealed that compounds 27 and 30 exhibited potent cytotoxicity against HCT116 cell line, with IC50 values of 9.52 µM and 2.87 µM, respectively.
