The Projection Principle: A Framework for Discovering Hidden Structure
Complex systems often contain more information than can be effectively understood through direct observation. The Projection Principle proposes an alternative approach. Rather than analysing a system in its full complexity, begin with its projections: reduced representations that preserve meaningful structure while reducing complexity. By studying projections, correlations, and residual discrepancies, hidden structures may become visible that would otherwise remain obscured. The Projection Principle is not specific to any domain. It is a general methodology for discovering structure, generating questions, and navigating complexity.
