Challenges and Prospects of Digital Technology Utilization among Library Personnel in Adamawa State University, Mubi

This study investigates the challenges and prospects of digital technology utilization among library personnel at Adamawa State University, Mubi. A descriptive survey design was adopted, with a population of 46 library staff. Data collected through structured questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS version 25. Findings revealed that major challenges affecting digital technology use include frequent power outages (mean = 4.44), poor internet connectivity (mean = 4.30), inadequate ICT training (mean = 4.28), and insufficient funding (mean = 4.16). Despite these challenges, utilization levels were moderate to high, particularly in the use of OPAC and automation software. Prospects for improving digital utilization were strongly identified, such as regular digital literacy training, improved ICT infrastructure, and increased funding. Inferential analysis indicated significant relationships between technology availability, staff competence, and utilization (p < 0.05). The study concludes that addressing infrastructural and skill gaps through continuous training and improved digital support systems will enhance service efficiency and promote sustainable digital transformation in academic libraries.
