Functional roles of non-redox active dopants in sodium layered oxide cathodes
Sodium layered oxide cathodes offer high energy density and structural versatility but suffer from irreversible phase transitions, transition-metal migration, and poor air/moisture stability. This review examines how non-redox-active dopants address these challenges through distinct roles in Na and transition-metal layers, including pillar effects, modulation of interlayer spacing and transition-metal-oxygen bonding, regulating Na + transport kinetics with enhanced environmental stability, and provides guidance for rational dopant selection.
